America is one of those places that you could travel to year after year and never even get close to running out of things to see and do. The problem is that a lot of people only ever end up going to the obvious places. And sure, many of these places can be amazing, but there really is a limit on how many times you can visit California and New York before they start to get kind of boring and repetitive. With that in mind, here’s a little bit of love for one of America’s amazing, if slightly overlooked states. Here are just some of the things that you can do when you visit Washington.
Visit the space needle
If there’s one monument that’s more famous than any other in Washington, it’s probably the space needle. This amazing, futuristic tower is one of the most recognizable structures in the world and is a must-see for any visitors to Washington’s most famous city. Whether you want to eat at the SkyCity restaurant or head up the observation deck, there really is nothing quite like the experience of looking over the city, hundreds of feet in the air.
Climb Mount Olympus
Now, how amazing would it be to be able to tell your friends and family that you actually climbed to the top of Mount Olympus? Well, in Washington, you can! Olympic National Park is one of the many parks that the state has to offer and the Olympic Mountains, while not especially high, really are a sight to behold. To be able to go from Washington’s cityscapes to the gorgeous natural beauty of these mountains is something that you simply have to experience for yourself.
Spend time by the sea
Everett may not be the largest or most famous of Washington’s cities, but it does have one of it’s best features, Puget Sounds. This coastal area is home to plenty of amazing aquatic experiences such as watching killer whales, kayaking, and salmon fishing. Plus, if you’re staying in Best Western Plus Navigator Inn & Suites then you’re able to stay right between the Sound and the Museum of Flight. That way, no matter what you have on the agenda, you’ve always got the options for an amazing day out.
Take in a show!
Washington might not have the reputation of a state like Oregon or New York when it comes to entertainment, but it can certainly hold its own when compared to those other places. From the Benaroya Hall to the 5th Avenue Theatre, there’s always something going on in Washington and no matter what, if you venture out into one of the states many cities at night, you’re almost certain to find something entertaining and exciting to see.
Hopefully, this has given you a decent idea of the kinds of things that you can see and do in some of America’s more overlooked areas. Next time you decide to take a trip to the U.S., or if you live there and just want to get to know your country a little better, why not try some of the less obvious destinations instead.
